CHARTing Our Community Health Mission

CHART is part progress report, part mission profile, part invitation.
We see our role in the health and well-being of the community as an honor and obligation, a continuing journey, and, above all, collaboration.

CHART, a new publication focused on the community health mission of Methodist Health System, debuted in the Fall of 2009.  Each issue is devoted to one area of our mission.

Read the issues below:

The Heidi Wilke SANE/SART Sexual Assault Survivor Program

Nurses who work with survivors of rape and sexual assault know that the hours after a sexual assault can be as traumatizing as the act itself. How a survivor of sexual assault is treated immediately following the incident can tremendously affect the survivor’s recovery.  Read about the specialized program which helped more than 130 sexual assault survivors in 2009, many under the age of 25.

Community Counseling Service

In 2008, the Community Counseling Program provided 5,193 free counseling sessions to more than 10,000 individuals and families in the Omaha metropolitan area.

The program puts free, professional counseling services in the community where people live and learn. Counselors help clients through their most vulnerable times, focusing exclusively on
care, not on fees or insurance coverage. People who otherwise might not have access to care can focus on getting better.

The Renaissance Center

Housed in Omaha's Salvation Army location, serving some of the poorest residents in the city, the Renaissance Clinic is “a lot like a small town. We get to know our patients, their kids, their situations. We help see them through things,” Eva Toelle, A.P.R.N, M.S.N  explains in the first issue.
